Mapping and Managing
Sacred Burial Grounds

Here you can learn about our various burial grounds projects
Since 2013 the Gullah Society has worked to document burial grounds at a number of locations in Charleston and the surrounding Lowcountry.  At these sites our priorities have been to assess, map, document and stabilize the burials and their environment.  We have also worked with communities and Church groups to assist in their preservation, management and maintenance of the burial grounds, and in the collection of oral histories and documents
related to those buried.
