WOKE: Conversations (part 2)

Community Conversations

During the WOKE exhibition at the City Gallery in  April 2018, we hosted an Opening Reception, a 'Community Conversation' event and 'Expression through Fashions of the African Diaspora' with College of
Charleston students in Dr. O's ' Yoruba Culture and Lowcountry Connections' Class.  At the Community Conversation, Dr. Eric Poplin, senior archaeologist with Brockington and Associates and
Dr. Nic Butler, public historian with Charleston County Public Libraries, presented their research and the results of the archaeological excavation at Anson Street, near the Gaillard Center, in 2013.

At these events and in the exhibition we invited visitors to add their comments, reactions and to respond to the questions that we posed:
